Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations, 1-6 February 2015, Jamaica

On February 6th Bob Marley would have turned 70 years old. This year, the annual birthday celebrations for Jamaica’s reggae legend, are gearing up to celebrate his life as Jamaicans and visitors remember him with a six day star studded festival. The 23rd annual Bob Marley Birthday bash, hosted in Negril will feature international reggae acts, tribute shows, food, art and the opportunity to absorb the sights and sounds of local culture.

The singer’s former home in Kingston –now the Bob Marley Museum  – which closed its doors in October 2014 for renovation, will reopen in time to hold its own special Earthstrong celebration on Marley’s birthday, 6 February.

Other scheduled events include the One Love celebrity soccer match scheduled for February 18 and a concert on the Kingston waterfront featuring Jamaican and international reggae artists. 

The celebrations continue during 2015 where his legacy will be remembered by new releases of rare and unreleased material. The first release will be available on February 17 –  Bob Marley and the Wailers ‘ Easy Skanking in Boston ’78, featuring 2 historic live shows from Boston’s Music Hall.
